I love dresses. I feel I look my best in dresses, I love feeling feminine and pretty, and they're just easier. It's one piece! However dresses present a problem as a fashion blogger. How in the heck do I style the same dress in unique ways? I'm still trying to figure that out. In the mean time here is my bright yellow dress for the third time on this blog (also seen here and here). This time with a thicker belt and some flat sandals.
I was unhappy with my lack of posts last week. I am not going to apologize, because I don't think that bloggers should feel like they HAVE to post, but I am going to say that I really would have liked to share this outfit, and a few others with you sooner. Due to roommates moving in and out of my apartment I was without cable and internet for a few days. It was all worth it though, because now we have free HBO for a month!
When we got the cable back Friday night I proceeded to watch all of HBO's Girls on demand. It is so good! I couldn't stop watching and watched all 10 half hour episodes within about 14 hours. I will be the first to admit that I have a bit of an addictive personality when it comes to tv. Whenever I get sucked into a new series that has been out for a while, I proceed to watch every episode ever made, sometimes spending 8 or 9 hours straight watching. It's terrible! This is the reason I'm hesitant to check out Downtown Abbey, MadMen, Modern Family, or any other awesome show I'm not watching that has lots of seasons readily available on Hulu or Netflix. Could be dangerous. I might never leave my house again!
Outfit:
Dress: Old Navy
Belt: Forever 21
Sandals: Payless
Necklace: a gift
Do you ever do marathons of tv shows?
Love the dress on you! It looks very bohemian on you!
ReplyDeleteI like seeing bloggers wear the same thing pieces multiple time, it's real life! I think you have restyled this dress beautifully.
ReplyDeleteDownton Abbey is an absolute MUST see! And it's seasons are super short so a marathon isn't quite as bad as American shows. Mad Men is awesome too. My husband and I are watching it on Netflix now. It's our summertime, nothing else is on (except Hell's Kitchen), show. Last summer we watched Battlestar Galactica, which was great! We usually do an episode or two each night.
This is such a cute dress on you!
ReplyDeleteI have an addictive personality when it comes to tv as well. Right now we are on marathon of Breaking Bad... we seriously watched 4 seasons in about 3 weeks. It's just too good!

I know exactly what you mean about dress, especially the dresses we own that are memorable because of the color or pattern (like this one). Dresses aren't really mix and match, but they are my favorite too! I love this one paired with the thick belt and the sandals- super summery!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big dress wearer too, but have exactly the same issue. You can't really do that much with them, especially in summer when layering isn't an option. This dress looks gorgeous on you though, so I'm glad you wear it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny what you said about being a TV addict. I'm the same way. I just finished the last 4 seasons of True Blood so I could watch Season 5. I literally wasted entire weekends watching it!
Dresses are my favorite too, especially in the summer!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that you got free HBO for a while. I have definitely done marathons with TV shows before. When I first got into Mad Men I watched like 18 in a row one day... oops! :D
Have a great 4th!
remixing dresses can be tricky when it is too hot to layer - but using bold accessories can really change things up, and you could also try light layers - like summer scarfs, vests, or my favorite, a rolled up and knotted button down.

Those are great suggestions. Thanks Lyddie:)
DeleteI agree about dresses...I LOVE to wear them, but I've quickly discovered as a blogger that they can be a little tricky to rework in new ways. This dress looks fabulous on you!

Ooooh, how I wish for HBO! I keep hearing how wonderful GIRLS is and I really love the wardrobe from the screengrabs I've seen. (Little more my style preferance than G.G.)
ReplyDeleteThis bright sundress is so cute with the strappy sandels, I know what you mean about dresses being difficult to style sometimes. (But I think you pulled it off here!)
