Purging

As I've mentioned on here a few times, my guy and I are moving in together. He's going to be living with me at my current apartment starting Friday (eek so soon!) and then we're moving into our first apartment together on September 1st. In preparation for the move, and the shared closet space that comes along with it, I've been slowly organizing and purging my wardrobe. Part of this process has been wearing items that I'm on the fence about or have trouble styling.

This tshirt is one of those items. I love the coral print and modest neckline, but I have a hard time styling it in a way that doesn't look old/ matronly. A high waisted denim pencil skirt may not have been the best idea if I was trying not to look matronly, but it was Friday and I love this skirt! I think this shirt is going to be staying a little longer. I can see it working well with a cardigan and skinny jeans or slacks for fall.

Outfit:
T Shirt: Target last year (solid colors still available)
Denim Pencil Skirt: Forever 21+ last summer
Belt: H&M
Shoes: Payless
Earrings: So Good
Bracelets: assorted

Last Friday

This week has been mostly dresses. For fear of boring you to death with another belted dress, I thought I'd share last Friday's outfit with you. This was a particularly casual Friday at work because we had an office bocce ball tournament!

My partner and I were eliminated during the first round of the tournament so I spent my afternoon eating icecream and cheering for my coworkers. After work I met up with Mike and some of his friends from college for food and drinks. Mike had his internship at court that day, so with his suit and tie we were quite the mismatched pair!

Not much to say about this outfit. An old blouse and some new denim crops that I got on sale at Old Navy.

Blouse:  H&M circa 2008

Necklace: So Good

Black Skinnies (again) and an April recap

I just can't get enough of these black skinnies! I've worn them to work almost every Friday this month. They fit me perfectly in the waist and legs. That's a really hard thing for me to find in a pair of pants. Most of the pants I have in my closet start to fall down a bit as the day wears on, even if I wear a belt!

Outfit:
Plaid Tank: ? it's really old
Cardigan: ? again, really old
Black skinnies: Old Navy
Peep toe flats: Payless, old

I can't believe April is already over. I did not do a very good job of sticking to the $100 budget I set for myself this month. In fact, at $174 spent, I didn't even come close to sticking to budget! Reasons for going over? BOGO, and coupons that were set to expire before the end of the month.
As a result of my over spending, I'm going to set a very small budget for myself for the month of May ($50). It should be easy for me to stick to it, since it's my birthday month:)

Lace and Black Skinnies

I wore this outfit on Friday to work, and then out for date night with my guy. We went to Grass Fed for burgers and adult milkshakes. If you're in Boston, I definitely recommend checking it out.

I am loving this H&M lace tank and the yellow one I wore earlier last week. In fact, I am seriously considering a trip back to H&M to purchase the coral one. When I find something I love I want to buy it in every available color. Maybe three is overkill?

Cardigan: Target

Jeans vs. slacks

Now that it's getting a little warmer, but not quite warm enough for dresses and skirts every day, I want to wear jeans all the time. For some reason I find it easier to style springy shirts and shoes with jeans rather than dress slacks.

Unfortunately, I'm only allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays, and only on Fridays when I don't have any trainings, meetings or interviews. Anyone have any tips for styling slacks?

In a rut

This outfit is actually from about two weeks ago. It was a casual Friday outfit that I just threw together, and I hadn't planned on posting it. However, I can't find my camera cord to upload any of my recent outfits, so here it is!

When it comes to putting outfits together, lately I've been in a bit of a creative rut. I'm hoping the heat wave we're having in Boston right now will inspire me to be a little more creative with my choices this week.

Outfit:
Blazer: Vintage, thrifted (Also seen here)
Blouse: Old Navy (Also seen here)
Jeans: Forever 21+
Flats: Payless

Casual, comfortable

I wore this outfit last Friday. I didn't post it because it's nothing special. I changed my mind because the reason that I do outfit posts almost every day is to show that I'm a real woman, with a real closet.

Just some boring but comfortable basics.  Don't get me wrong, I love putting outfits together, but sometimes I just want to grab something and throw it on.

Outfit:
Shirt: Target I think? It's old
Camisole: H&M
Jeans: Forever 21+
Flats: Target

back to basics

We had a really spring-like Friday. As much as I love all the layers of winter, it was nice to strip down to the basics and just wear jeans and a blouse.

I'm often between plus sized and straight sizes, so I was really excited when I discovered the beauty of the 0X. This shirt is from Macy's American Rag line. They always have really cute pieces, but I think they're a little pricey for the quality, so I wait until they are on clearance. This butterfly shirt was on clearance for $19!

Jeans: Old Navy
