Jeans vs. slacks

Now that it's getting a little warmer, but not quite warm enough for dresses and skirts every day, I want to wear jeans all the time. For some reason I find it easier to style springy shirts and shoes with jeans rather than dress slacks.

Unfortunately, I'm only allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays, and only on Fridays when I don't have any trainings, meetings or interviews. Anyone have any tips for styling slacks?

  1. I seldom wear jeans (maybe two or three times a month) and I'm a big fan of casual tops with dress pants. Usually the outfit ends up being almost as casual as if I wore jeans, but with a little quirk. I'm the queen of little tshirts, cardigans, and dress pants. With some it's harder than other, but for springy shirts try out dressier pants in different colors.

  4. This top is so pretty, after I saw you wear it last time I had to run over to our old navy and see if they had it!

Slacks can be super hard to style, but it seems to depend on the shape of them. Slim cut, ciggerette style dress pants work with everything, from a tucked-in blouses to sweaters to tunic style tops. Wide leg slacks I have the most trouble with since you have to work with the extra volume. Slim cut blouses with belts over the middle seem to work the best. (but you have to be super careful of how long your shirt is, don't go longer than the top of your hipbone.) I sound silly explaining this, maybe i can find some examples...
Anyways, love this top, it's so cute with jeans!
