Keep or Donate?

In preparation for moving into a teeny apartment with my boyfriend, I've been doing some closet downsizing. I already have about four garbage bags full of clothes set aside to donate or swap, but I still feel like I need to downsize further. I've been making it a point to wear pieces that normally don't get a lot of wear to see if I really want to keep them.

This shirt is one that I'm on the fence about. I got it on clearance at Rue21 for like $4 a few years ago. I love the rosette embellishments, but they make it impossible to layer the shirt under anything, and y'all know I love my layers!

I'm still on the fence. I love the color, neckline, and sleeve length, but how often am I going to wear a shirt that I can't layer?

This skirt on the other hand is definitely a keeper. I think it set in my closet untouched for over a year until I rediscovered it and paired it with my yellow lace top. I love bold black and white prints! So versatile!

Outfit:
Blouse: Rue21 circa 2009
Skirt: Marshall's circa 2008
Belt: H&M
Shoes: Payless

  1. You look so teeny tiny up top in that shirt. I say its a keeper and no need to layer!

  2. I'm not wild about the top. I think it's a beautiful color on you, but I don't like the rosettes. That being said- I never like to criticize someone's fashion choices because it's not fun when someone does it to you... Donate it and buy a new shirt in that color!

  3. I'm on Team Keep the Shirt. I think it's good to have things that you look great in, even if it's not your usual style. I'm a cardigan girl, but I always wish I had more work outfits that didn't require a cardigan.

  4. I think if you aren't going to wear the top that often, find one in a similar cut and get rid of this one! But I am much more of a "throw awayer" than a "keeper" with my closet.

  8. You're totally right, the color is great and looks really good on you. I usually love rosettes, but these are sort of in an awkward placement. Love that skirt thought! :)

  9. If you're not going to wear it, don't keep it. Unless you love it. It's totally okay to keep stuff you love that isn't that versatile. But, it doesn't sound as though you love this top, so I say donate.

Glad you're keeping the skirt though!

  11. Um, I say KEEP IT! And I say that in capital letter because....

1)Looks really freakin' AMAZING on you! (And Im pretty sure your man would agree!)
    2)Really love that color
3)LOVE the rosettes! I think they look really cool and they are so fun to look at. I think this could be such a great summer/spring garment, it stands all on it's own and doesn't need any layering! (Plus, I think it would look steller with so many of your skirts.)
4)You are smiling so much in this! (I think you must secretly really love it because you just look so happy wearing it!) ^_^
