Weekend Recap: Busy

Thanks so much for all the kind words in response to Friday's post. I debated for a while as to whether or not I should say anything about my great aunt's passing. In fact, one of the biggest challenges I have faced as a blogger is finding balance. How do I write about my clothes and my style, but still include my personality and my life experiences? Is it okay to share unhappy or stressful experiences with my readers? I know that I most enjoy reading blogs that include personal stories and anecdotes, so I think it's okay to get a little personal sometimes.

This was a busy weekend for me, but in a good way. I had planning meetings for BostonGLOW on Saturday. Then I went to Boston Pride, got dinner with my beau and some friends, and then had a few porch beers. Sunday I went for a walk in the Arnold Arboretum with my beau and some friends and then went to the SoWa market. I didn't manage to get any pictures of the adorable sundress I was wearing Saturday, but here are some pictures from the arboretum on Sunday.


 It was really warm on Sunday, and I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking in the sunshine so I opted for a really basic, comfortable summer outfit. No frills here, just some jean shorts and a tank top.

Mike and I at the top of Peter's Hill with the Boston skyline in the background. This is one of my favorite places in Boston. The best part is how the view changes with the seasons.

    i went to a baseball game and hung out with friends - doing takeout chinese and watching tv! great fun! your weekend looks great too.

    I took so many blog pictures.... well, my husband did. Bless him. We did a ton of eating out and then watched True Blood! Awesome weekend!

    So sorry about your Aunt's passing. I think it is just fine to write what is on your mind and happening in your life! I struggle with the same but have tried to do my best to write what is in my heart (usually that is something self depricating or sarcastic but the occassional serious does get in there).
    I love Arnold Arboretum! It is soo gorgeous!

    i like it when people tell a little bit of their lives in their blogs...good or bad! it sounds like you have a nice weekend. your pictures are lovely, and all the green looks so refreshing!

    I'm sorry to hear about your great aunt as well. Personally, I like to hear personal stories from blogs I read, and there are a few posts on my blog that are personal too - like one I wrote not that long ago about a terrible ex boyfriend...I think it's good to be a real person, so just share as much as YOU feel comfortable with.

    wow, I bet that area is just beautiful in the fall time, with all of the leaves turning orange and red.
    I personally love reading the blogs that are personal, it gives more of a face to the person behind the blog and it much more fun. (plus, its honest to share the hard times, it's not all sunshine and flowers sometimes!) Keep it up dear!

    PS- you look slamming in your tank and shorts! Ah, and now I just sound like a creepy old man...

      Ha ha. Thanks! I love the glimpses of personal lives too. The word slammin always reminds me of the song "Jane Fonda" by Mickey Avalaon.
