Playing Favorites

I love new clothes. There's something really satisfying about ripping the tags off a garment and wearing it for the first time. Some items go on to become favorites, worn over and over until they literally fall apart. Other items get worn a few times and then get thrown into the "donate/ sell" pile. This dress is one of those items that I will wear until it can't be worn any more.

I bought this dress at Target  back in February or March and I have worn it once every two weeks ever since. It works for every season, and I love challenging myself to style it in different ways. (Like here, here, and here). When I bought this floral and leopard print scarf (on super clearance for $5!!!) at Urban Outfitters, I knew I would eventually pair it with this dress. Pardon the pattern explosion, but I think they're a perfect match.

  1. I bought a navy/white polka dot dress from Target a couple of months ago too and it has been a major go-to for me this fall. I've paired it with patterned cardigans, left plain with a fun necklace and burgundy heels, etc. Gotta love a piece of clothing that you can remix again and again.

  2. I used to have a dress like this but it shrunk and is too short now :( But I agree that it's super versatile - and polka dots are the cutest!

    1. This one is a little short for work unless I'm wearing really opaque tights.

  5. That dress is so cute! I do the same thing...some things I love and always wear and other things don't get worn nearly as often.

    1. Me too! I'm making a sincere effort to make outfits in my head with every item I pick up in a store BEFORE I buy it.

  10. I love this scarf, it's so gauzy looking and the print has a very watercolor look to it, completely stunning! (The colors are so soft, I think it pairs very well with the polka dotted dress.) What I like the most is how you went with brown accents rather than black with this outfit, it looks so chic!

    1. Those are exactly the reasons I love this scarf (that and the $5 price tag!) For some reason I always pair navy with brown instead of black.

    1. I wore the heck out of these boots last winter. I need to get them polished and resoled, but I haven't found the time, or been willing to part with them long enough.
