Come Sail Away

Coming into the fall and winter shopping season I decided to focus on two things- basics and interesting accessories. When I saw this scarf at Old Navy about two months ago I knew I had to have it. But since I never pay full price at Old Navy, I also knew I had to wait. Eventually I had some extra cash coupons and the scarf came home with me.

I don't sail, and I get motion sickness on boats, but I love sailboats. I went to a top sailing school for undergrad and have lived in several places where sailing was one of the primary recreational activities. I've been planning a tattoo of a sailboat for years, but I keep chickening out because I pass out when I get shots or blood drawn.

Outfit: pants- Target (old); shirt and cami- H&M; denim jacket- JCrew thrifted; flats- Target;  scarf: Old Navy
I am not loving these pants any more. I've had them for over a year, but they just don't fit that great and the fabric doesn't maintain it's shape very well. If I could just find some charcoal colored, straight legged slacks to replace them, I would gladly let them go. Any suggestions?

  1. If you find those pants you describe, let me know...I'll get some too. And if I find them I'll let you know!

I'm curious how you handled that sailing class with sea sickness.

    1. By the way, regarding the shots and blood draws...hopefully the phlebotomist would help coach you through the process; a good one will be able to coach you on breathing techniques before she ever comes at you with a needle. Proper breathing helps to relax your and keeps your vessels from constricting, which causes more pain, less O2 to the body and brain which is on of the causes of passing out.

  2. That is such a cute fall scarf! I hate needles too so I don't blame you about the tattoo.

  4. I'm built like you and I love the fit of Liz Claiborne pants (JCP). They are reasonably priced too.

  6. Simply Be has a pair of straight leg cobalt blue pants that I think you would love! There a bit pricey at $59 but I own several Simply Be items & I have no complaints!

  9. I've been stalking that scarf at our old navy, but it still hasn't gone on sale yet. Kudos for snagging it with the coupons! (The scarf looks lovely on you, I really like the pop of the print against your darker shirt.)

I love these outside photos you've been getting, you look stunning in them. All of those flowers make for such a lovely backdrop and it still looks like summer over that way!
